Tools for Participatory Decision-Making STP 303/503

Winter Short Course for Professionals and Students

Institute of Sustainability and Technology Policy, Murdoch University

9am 4.30pm daily, Monday 30 June Friday 4 July 2008

Have you heard about Dialogue for the City, the Fremantle Harbour consultations and other local government or corporate consultation processes? Do you want to be involved in or instigate community engagement processes as a community member or consultant? Do you work for government or a business that needs to engage with the public on new projects and major decisions?

This course will introduce you to a number of community and stakeholder engagement processes, help you to think about the context in which they are most useful and stimulate to examine their limitations. The course is a mix of hands-on practical sessions, informative background material and offers a chance to work as a small group to reflect on and plan a hypothetical consultation process.
